Merrill Brothers C18 Acoustic Guitar Condtion
This guitar is no longer for sale (sold on 2008-09-25)
Price : US $3,300.
This guitar is Jim Merrills' clone of a 1930 Martin D18 and is far superior to Martin's own overbuilt authentic version.
This one is featherlight like the original. If you were to blindfold someone and ask them to tell the difference between this guitar and an original 1930 D18, they would have a problem, it's that good!
Far better than Martin or Collings reproductions because it's built using the same methods and materials as the original.
Natural finish Adirondack red spruce top and braces, master grade Honduran mahogany sides and back, Honduran mahogany neck, Brazilian rosewood peghead overlay, ebony fretboard with pearl dot inlays, ebony belly bridge, vintage style bridge and end pins,25.4'' scale, open back tuners with butterbean buttons, tortoise plastic pickguard and body binding, adjustable truss rod, antique ivory nut and saddle, with Cedar Creek hardshell case.
Carefully broken in and already ''opened up''. A flatpicking monster! Near mint condition! This guitar can seen by appt. prior to the auction's close in the Philadelphia suburbs. Contact, Rob, 610-525-4757
On Sep-23-08 at 05:07:16 PDT, seller added the following information:
The armrest is made by John Pearse and is held on with double faced tape and is designed to not damage the finish if you want to remove it. Information is on the John Pearse website. They claim the armrest actually improves the acoustical properties of the instrument by preventing the arm from resting on an area of the guitar that would otherwise be dampened by the arm alone.
