1956 Gretsch Silver Jet Bigsby DeArmond Vintage
This guitar is no longer for sale (sold on 2008-10-18)
Price : US $3,910.
1956 Gretsch Silver Jet in excellent vintage condition. I've had this guitar for about three years now, but am simply not playing it as much as it deserves. Plus, I'm mostly into the big hollowbodies- as my primary guitar is a vintage 1957 6120 Chet Atkins. It's feather lite at about 7.5 to 8 pounds and is in excellent vintage condition. I played it for about two hours today and almost changed my mind about selling it... Besides, how often do you run across a 1956 Silver Jet?!
Frets are a medium to jumbo fret (refretted at some time in the past) and in excellent condition. The neck is nice and thick and is a chunky ''C'' profile. Action is low with no buzz and it plays great. Wiring harness is new and is from Gretsch. I had Gruhn Guitars of Nashville do the work, as the original harness was decaying a bit and only about 90% original anyway. I still have the original harness and will consider selling it in a different auction if there is enough interest. Super rare arrow knobs, original mid 50's B-3 Bigsby, original and super rare Rowe Industries DeArmonds. Strap buttons, Melita, vintage bone nut, and open-back tuners are also all original and in excellent condition. Control cavity cover is also original and matching serial number is etched on the back. I forgot to put it in the pictures after removing it to show the label and control cavity.
