This auction is for a Gretsch electric guitar with non-original soft case.  The label is covered with grime, but I think the model is 6125, also known as Anniversary.  The serial number is 38XXX, which I think puts it around a 1960.  I got this guitar and an old Gretsch tube amp (for sale in another auction) at an estate sale.  When I got it, the pickguard, bridge, and trapeze were missing.  I bought the pickup an Bigsby on eBay.  The bridge is a generic one I had sitting around.  The pickguard is some sort of re-issue or for a late model Gretsch.  It was green and only $10.00 so I stuck it on.  The V-hole Gretsch Bigsby is an actual period-correct part from the late 50's or early 60's with a patent number stamped into the underside.  I paid some good bucks for it.  the guitar is structurally sound with no breaks, cracks, or repairs that I can find.  Everything works, and it sounds great amplified with three distinct sounds, including a very nice acoustic-electric sound.  The neck has no problems.  Playability is great.  It has a little playing wear here and ding or two there.  The binding is pretty tight over-all, especially compared to many old Gretsches.  As the pics show, there is some strange discoloration or stain in the center of the top.  I don't know what caused this, but it looks to me like leftover adhesive from a large sticker or something.  I think it could be buffed off or somehow removed by someone who was careful and knew what they were doing. %
