Rare 1980's Ibanez Joe Pass JP20 arch top guitar.

A relatively small number of Ibanez Joe Pass guitars were crafted in Japan from 1981 to 1991 making these guitars a rare item. This JP20 (S/N J800166) has flamed maple back and sides, laminated spruce top with sunburst finish. It has a 22 fret, bound ebony fingerboard with abalone and pearl split block inlay, and ebony tailpiece. Semi-transparent pearloid keys on Velve machine head tuners. Nice yellow patina on ivoroid binding around body. Tortoise shell pick guard. Gold hardware in good condition for age of guitar except pickup cover gold lacquer edges are tarnished.

Features a body length of 104 cm (41”), body depth 40.5 cm (2 3/4”), 4.45 cm (1 3/4”) nut width, 25 1/2” scale. Has one Electronics Super 58 Humbucking pickup, one volume and one tone control. The neck radius/contour is same as Ibanez George Benson GB10 guitars (“300R”) if that helps.

Guitar is in very good condition with less than normal wear and tear for a 25 year old guitar. The following imperfections are noted:

Surface ding about the size of an uncooked grain of rice on top side near binding located about 2 inches behind F hole. See photo number 6.

Three surface dings (about 1/4” by 1/8” size or less each) located below pick guard on lower cutaway area. See photo number 5.

Some tarnishing on gold hardware. Zoom in on pickup cover tarnishing in photo 5.

Currently setup with Thomastik-Infeld Jazz
