Here's an opportunity to get a real collector's guitar -- a genuine Fender F1010 flat top acoustic guitar, made by the Harmony Company of Chicago and sold under Fender license. I purchased this guitar from a dealer in 1992, who represented it as a model made in 1969 -- the year he bought it. The model number inside the guitar identifies it as a 1010, but the corresponding serial refers to a production lot and not a date.
Features a spruce top and mahogany sides and back, according to Fender; ''Uni-Bar'' reinforced neck, mismatched string pegs (easily replaced), and a lot less wear than you'd expect from an acoustic this old. Tuners work fine, but the two lowest are missing their centering rings (also easily replaced). Missing both strap pegs. Some fretwear, but not enough to warrant replacement.
I used this guitar mainly for open-tuning slide setup, but conventional tuning works fine. The neck is warped slightly (bowed in the direction the strings pull), so the action beyond the 5th fret is pretty high but playable. A guitar repair shop should be able to straighten the neck bow. I offer no solutions, but I have been told it can be done. As I said, it's worked great for slide and has a nice, warm, woody tone. Comes strung with fresh new strings. No case, but carefully packed and shipped insured via UPS ground. $30 flat rate shipping to continental US ONLY.
