Manufactured in Hartford Connecticut, U.S.A.; model number 1112-4 Ovation Balladeer acoustic guitar; serial number 081637 (1976). This 32 year old Balladeer has a great tone and easy playability. The neck is still good and straight, with no buzzing frets whatsoever. The saddle is brand new and re-modified by a luthier to compensate for the low E-string intonation & the truss rod was re-adjusted for lower string action. Has a solid spruce top, diamond pearloid inlays on the fretboard, and wooden inlays up the back of the neck to the top of the tuning head. The natural finish has toned up a little with age over the years, making it look absolutely beautiful. It is virtually flawless except for a thin crack on the top (bridge to bottom of guitar - see pictures) and 2 small cracks (in the finish only), on the top where the neck meets on both sides. It doesn't affect the sound in ANY way. Some Ovations over time require wood to move - as all acoustics do. The problem is with the Lyrachord bowl (back and sides). The only wood, other than the neck, is the spruce top. So what sometimes happens is that the top will crack in the weakest area to satisfy the need for the wood to move. The original Ovation hard shell case is clean and in good working condition. I also put on fresh new light gauge strings before listing it and I'm throwing in 2 extra saddles as well. Below is Ovation’s “cracking the code” website for a six digit serial number.
