The Dean guitar company was founded by Dean Zelinsky in Florida in 1977 and was initially best known for its solid body electric guitars. Zelinsky began with classic Gibson designs and then began developing his own. After several management changes, the Dean company finally began producing acoustic models overseas in the 1990s, aside from a few custom shop acoustic models still made in the U.S.A.
The Dean Tradition Series is a group of entry to mid-level guitars ranging from $300 to $750. They are all characterized by quality materials and carefully monitored craftsmanship. The Tradition AK48 is an excellent example of this high quality at a reasonable price.
This guitar is a dreadnought style acoustic, with a select spruce top and beautifully figured mahogany back, sides, and neck in a high gloss natural finish. It has a 14/20-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlay, and a rosewood bridge in the distinctive Dean ''swoosh'' design with contrasting white pins. The mahogany headstock has the logo and name, set off by the sealed chrome machine heads/tuners; the scale is the standard 25.5''. It is literally brand new and is in mint conditionâ€”you will not find a better-looking guitar for this price!
