Gibson Built 30's Carson J Robison Acoustic Guitar
This guitar is no longer for sale (sold on 2008-12-06)
Price : US $656.00
During the years of the Great Depression, Gibson, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, stayed in business by producing more affordable guitars. These bore the name of a popular cowboy singing star of the era, Carson J. Robison, rather than Gibson and were distributed through outlets such as Montgomery Ward.
This guitar is 100% original and in good condition especially considering that its 70 years old. It has no cracks or separations in the body. There are some scratches, nicks and pick marks. It measures 38 1/4 inches overall. The body is 17 1/2 inches long, 14 3/4 inches wide across the lower bout, 10 inches wide across the upper bout, and 4 inches deep. There is a serial or model number 145A stamped on the inside. This guitar was kept in its original shipping box at my Grandmother's house until about 30 years ago. It has been kept in the chipboard case shown ever since. The case will be included.
This guitar is in better shape than some examples of these that I've seen sold here that had missing or replaced pegs and/or tuners, holes drilled in the body, replacement bridges and repaired/replaced bracing etc.
Please ask if you have any questions or would like any specific pictures. The winner will prepay including $35.00 S&H ( Ins if requested). Payment may be PayPal, Cashier’s Check, or Money Order. Payment must be received within 3 business days from auction close. US bidders only!
