Fender Villager 12-String Guitar
I have a very old Fender Villager 12-String XII guitar for sale. This one is from the late 1960s or early 1970s because it has a two color sunburst finish. This finish was offered late in the production years of the guitar. This guitar was only manufactured between 1965 -- 1971 give or take a year.
The guitar is in reasonably good condition for its age (almost 40 years old), but it is not in showroom condition. The front has a couple of hairline cracks in the finish between the bridge and the bottom of the guitar, but the cracks do not extend into the wood. I could not get these hairline cracks to show up in the photos. Otherwise, the front looks real nice. The bridge looks beautiful and has no finish. It appears to be bare wood. I think most of the Villager guitars had unfinished bridges, but I am not sure. My other Villager does have a finish on the bridge.
Overall, the pick guard is in good shape, but has some serious pick scratches in it. However, it retains the bulk of its gold coloring. The edges of the back of the guitar have many places where the finish has chipped off, as shown in the photos, but overall the back itself looks good. There are a few cracks but they appear to be in the finish.
The neck is straight, the frets show virtually no signs of serious wear and the intonation is almost dead on. I can play on the 5-10 frets and it sounds in tune. One imperfection on the neck is that behind the headstock between the rows of tuners, someone embossed their initials in the wood. The initials look like MN, but I am not certain. Look at the photos.
An old Victoria hard shell case comes with the guitar. It is an original Villaer case. The case is a little worn, but sturdy. It has a few dings round the edges but all the latches work and are intact.
The serial number imprinted on the neck plate is 26930. I have owned the guitar for a year or two and have dozen or so...
