this is an older vega electric guitar....ive been told its from the 1950s......very much like a goldtop les paul....body and neck look to be mahogany....it has the usual scratches dents etc. that a 50 year plus old , well used guitar would have,....but also is a really interesting project...ive seen a lot of guitars through...but not a vega like this (i once had a vega electric archtop)....guitar has a glued in neck....unusual pickups......the electronics will need work-the pots are frozen -wont turn-and the input for a guitar cord is pretty rusty-it is in the tailpiece end-bridge is missing and a capnut o the tail- i have the knobs which are white and will be included with the guitar......if youre handy or a collector this is a way cool guitar this guitar may be just what you need.....guitar sells as is...ships u.s. lower 48 only....we accept paypal or money order..shipping cost will be my actual cost plus 5 dollars...thanks.On May-29-07 at 11:14:07 PDT, seller added the following information:
please note the top of this guitar is flat-not carved........thanks.

I have a 1950 something Vega ( Les Paul ) type with the number 24 inscribed on the inside of the cover plateand also in the back on the wood under the plastic plate. It also has the numbers WG4022 I remember going with my father when he bought it. He bought from my kindergarten teacher in Cleveland Ohio and we have had it ever since. It must have been in '55 It belongs to me now and is in good shape. It is totally original. Does anyone know for sure how many were made? I can upload a picture of it if anyone wants to see it. I was thinking about selling it. I also have an old Rajah banjo. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org

jimmy if you have a double cut it is not an original but may still be the original body just modified. the only ones vega made were single cuts and all in the 1955 year. vega thought that since the top was flat they could get by but gibson shut them down quickly. i was told that vega built 59-75 (numbers are murky) of these but all the ones at the factory when the order came down were destroyed. there are supposedly 31 out there in the wind. i have one. like the early les pauls the serial number is not on the neck. it is scratched (etched) into the cover plate (inside) for the control cavity. mine has the number 26. email@example.com

I own one of these, but it is a double-cutaway model. This is the closest I've ever seen to it.
