Original 1953 1957 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top Guitar
This guitar is no longer for sale (sold on 2007-06-13)
Price : US $11,337
This appears to be 1953 Gibson Les Paul electric guitar with a factory 1957 neck in overall good condition. The serial number starting with ''7'' denotes it as a 1957 vintage. Although all the books mentioned a different style bridge in 1957. This has the older trapeze style bridge. This also has the 1/2'' knobs making it a 1953.
The neck tenon does not have the gold paint, but the outside finish is the same as the guitar. It will need new strings. The P-90 style pickups are in good shape. They said the neck was straight and they adjusted the truss rod. There is wear on the fret board. The edges have some nicks and scratches, and the finish has heavy crazing. There will be no mistaking this as a true vintage Gold Top. The shiny pretty ones are available as reissues and a lot cheaper.
The guitar weighed approx 8.8 pounds. The tuners may be original to the guitar, but under the tuner is an outline of a different style. The trapeze bridge is original to the guitar. There are no numbers visible on the pots. Knobs are 1/2'' tall. They had the old style capacitor. There is NO evidence of any other style bridge on this guitar, meaning no patched holes or wear spots. This trapeze bridge is what came with the guitar.
