This is an original 1952-1953 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop guitar. Early no-serial number model. The guitar suffered a headstock break in the early '60s at which time it was non-professionally repaired. The repair consists of wood dowels, stripping of the headstock and the addition of a headstock overlay, and overspray to the back of the neck. There are some areas of the overspray on the back of the headstock & neck that show some cracking - these are cracks in the finish only, not cracks in the wood.

The repair is structurally solid - just not too good in the visual department. Five of the tuners are early '60s double-ring double-line Klusons. The other tuner is a single-line no-text Kluson which appears to be original, but it may be a replacement as well. The jackplate and strap buttons have been replaced. Some misc screws have been replaced as well (backplate screws, one trussrod cover screw). Other than all of the above, the guitar is original and in great shape. The pickups have never been de-soldered from the pots.

The bridge pickup measures 8k and the neck pickup measures 7.7k. There are no numbers visible on the pots, and I'm not going to risk damage to the knobs or pots to look for some numbers. The guitar is a '52-'53 and the pots are obviously original. Total weight is 9.6 lbs. Original '50s 5-latch brown & pink Lifton case which is in great shape with no problem with the latches or hinges.
