When I aquired this guitar I took it to a luthier for inspection and he said it was structurally sound and had not had a lot of use in its life but had been used as a kids toy.

It has suffered but I have left it alone for a genuine collector to rectify.

In researching this guitar on the net I found through E-bay canada that this guitar has a relationship to Hoshino Gakki who made the Ibanez guitars.

I also found that other owners of

this guitar say that it is the loudest sound possible from an acoustic.

They put it down to the fact that it has a solid top and back and sides and all the other examples I found confirm this.

The finish of this guitar precludes me from confirming this and I am not knowledgeable about such things.but to look at it it seems accurate and a furniture maker familiar with wood types says it is solid.

If you look up my other entry on this site for a Maya bass they both came from the same place.

I will want to sell this guitar but the cost of postage outside New Zealand is very high and I would like to know more about it when I sell it.

I have no idea of its value except both of these guitars are the only example of their kind in the museum and this guitar will come back to museum condition

This is typical of New Zealand when in the seventies and eighties we had the second highest standard of living on earth and people were rich enough to give their kids quality Ibanez guitars as playthings. Now we are one of the worst off in the OECD and still falling.

If you can contribute information

please do so and I will be glad to hear from you. I personally do not think it is the closest copy of the Hummingbird but other people have drawn that comparison

I think from what I can see it was rather a post lawsuit development

and because it is in New Zealand has little or nothing to do with the models made by Hoshino Gakki for Europe
The seperated D on the id label indicates that this guitar was made in April, 1980
