It's time to sell my favorite guitar. It was my first electric guitar, and what a great guitar to learn how to play. I bought it from an individual in the early 80's. If you want that Jimmy Page sound, this is the one. Sounds fantastic. All original parts, except for the plug mount. I replaced the plastic cover with a metal plate. The original plastic cover is included. The original plush purple case is included. The back of the headstock has a '2' at the top, then '111886' serial number, 'MADE IN USA' under that. I was told it was a 1971, research shows it could be a 1970 also. It's been played, there is some fret wear, surface rhythm marks, the gold has worn, there is a belt buckle spot on the back. But none of those affect the sound.
The Les Paul autograph...the name 'Les Paul' is engraved, by hand, in the pick guard. The gentleman I bought the guitar from told me about the signature AFTER money was exchanged. He told me, "You just bought a very special guitar, Les Paul autographed the pick guard." He had taken the guitar to a show and Les Paul had engraved his name in the pick guard. I have no proof except what he told me. I believe it to be Les Paul's autograph. I was told it's almost, if not impossible to get a Letter of Authenticity on an engraved signature because of the unnatural flow the of the engraver. It's worn a bit from strumming. I took the guard off to protect the signature after a few years. I had one just like it. The pic looks like gold hardware and an ebony fret board - if it is - it's almost identical to mine. Loved that guitar.
