This is a hollow body Ideal guitar made in Japan during the 60's. As far as I can tell, it was made by Greco. It is a 6 string copy of the guitar made famous by Paul McCartney. Apparently, this was the rare deluxe model featuring the "f" holes and very genuine looking bridge. Note that when they built this model the plate for the controls had to be moved down to make room for the "f" holes and, thus, the cut-off corners on the plate. The body and neck are in exceptional condition with one little ding on each (see photos). All the chrome is in fine shape. The headstock has dings on the edges (see photo). I bought this guitar on a whim because it just looked so cool. When I got it there was no sound but I cleaned the first volume control and now the neck pickup is loud and clear. The other pot didn't respond to cleaning and my guess is it needs to be replaced for the bridge pickup to work (I didn't attempt it because with all those switches, it's way beyond my ability). As the photos show, it is minus the pickguard and tremelo arm. One of the chrome knobs on one of the tuners has been replaced with a white plastic one (photo). The guitar is truly hollow- there is only one little block under the bridge for support -so it is very light. It really is a pretty guitar with a beautiful finish and can be played just the way it is or you can restore it all the way for a small investment. I have only seen one other like it in a picture. I tried to represent everything as accurately as I could but I am far from an expert on these things. If you have any questions I will do my best to answer them. Shipping is a flat $35 to the Continental US. Sorry, no foreign sales. Paypal preferred.
