This vintage EPIPHONE Guitar will need some restoration work to bring it back to life. The guitar has a blonde finish with a light brown swirl pickguard. The serial number is 58977 which places it at the end of 1949. The unit is large and is about the size of a Gibson J45 maybe a bit larger. The neck is in very decent condition with minor wear (what I would call very light pitting of the fretboard). There are no breaks in the neck or repairs that I can find. The neck joint with the body is very tight, there are no gaps. The frets are in good condition. The tuners are original (I believe), but may need to be replaced or restored. There are no extra holes in the back of the peg board. The unit has missing binding on the top and back. It has a hole that was added in the top and in the bottom bout and top upper left bout. It obviously had a pickup added at sometime. The bridge has either been removed or come free from the unit. It is setting on top in the pictures. There are cracks and swelling around this vicinity of the top. The top may have to been completely removed and/or replaced (see pics).   The binding on the nect is complete but is held on by masking tape in one section. The unit has its original manufacture tag within the body. The back of the unit and sides are very nice and could be left alone in my opinion. The back shows some flame in the finish. There are other small scratches, dings and dents. Nothing real major or serious in my opinion. The unit has very nice inlays in the neck, these are better than others that I have seen. They are a trapazoidal (sp?) style and in good shape. Included with the guitar is a black hardshell wooden case with key. This is not original to this guitar. All in all this unit could make a great wall hanger as/is but at somepoint it should be restored as it would make a stunning piece. If I had the skills to work on it I would never let it go. It is going to need some quality care. I am selling...
