This auction is for a black Schecter Hotrod ’39 limited edition electric guitar. The guitar is a smooth player with good intonation. The weight isn’t too light or too heavy and seems well balanced. The Grover style tuners hold tune solidly. The neck is very nice and straight with an unusually flat fret-board, thin, and well set frets in excellent condition. Playability seems exceptionally smooth and quick up and down the neck, with extremely low action, and no noticed fret-buzz. The pickups are hot, and combined with a string-thru body seem to offer a fairly versatile and useful mid-range tone, excellent for rock and metal. Not quite as screechy as my Strat, but stronger and crisper than my V or my Paul.

The looks are a real eye-catcher too; black hardware, abaloneoid flame-shaped-fret-board-inlay and blueish-gray abaloneoid blinding-inlay to match. However, the finish isn’t perfect. On the backside of the larger horn and on the larger-horn-sides there seems to be a dull section to the finish (see pictures). I suspect that perhaps the horn had been scratched or nicked in that area and someone probably attempted to touch-up the finish. The rest of the finish seems to me to be acceptable. The neck is in great condition and the body looks in reasonable enough shape, save one scratch at the bottom front (see picture
