This is a great sounding and playing ‘72 D-18. I am no expert on Martins, but I am a long-time pro player. I think I can make some reasonably helpful comments for you, so here goes: The neck is a wonderfully comfortable D shape, straight, and not too big. Actually one of the more comfortable Martin necks I have ever played. The frets are in great shape, with no marks or divots. The headstock is 60’s style with round corners and Grover tuners. The string height is set low. The original guard is beginning to peel up slightly from the bridge side. Easily fixed with proper adhesive. The material is not warped, and easily lies flat if you push it down. The nut, saddle and bridge pins look original. The bracing looks lightly scalloped.I can’t say enough about the tone of this guitar. Wonderful bottom end response, balanced with loud and clean top end that is very rich, not thin or raspy. Plenty of volume and very, very warm.A bridge pickup is installed and I have included the 1/4” to 1/8” adaptor so you can use any standard guitar cord to plug in. No cracks or repairs. Overall condition is very good, overall clean, but with many smallish dings and scratches as you would expect on a 35-year-old instrument. Overall it looks very nice. Comes with the Martin factory hardshell blue case which is in excellent shape. If you like vintage Mahogany dreadnought guitars, you are going to love this one. ALL of the pictures look worse than the guitar actually is. EVERY scratch looks overexaggerated in these pictures. The back of the neck is pretty clean, despite the reflections and bad lighting which make the neck here look beat up. It is NOT beat up. The ac tual color of the wood is somewhat darker than the pictures suggest; the scratches are, in real life, much more muted and less...
