1988 Fender Stratocaster Hardtail with modifications
This item is being re-listed as I have done some research and am now suspecting that this guitar was either made in Japan or made in the US from a combination of American and Japanese parts. I did not want to give the impression that I am sure this was a MIA Fender Stratocaster before the changes I have done. The serial number is vague, as both 1988 MIA and 1983/84 MIJ Starts could have a similar serial number and there is no Made in USA or Made in Japan labelling anywhere on the guitar, either at production or perhaps removed by previous owner. There is also a slight gap on the bass side of the neck pocket, which I also felt should be stated. I apologize for the errors, but wanted to be clear so I don't have any disappointed bidders at the end of the auction.
This is a 1988 Fender Stratocaster Standard Hardtail (or at least was when I got it) that turned out to be a Frankenstein project for me. I bought this guitar and found out that the truss rod was broken or just badly seized up, so I replaced the original neck with a 2002 Mexican Strat Standard neck (maple/maple, excellent condition). There is a bit of a gap on the bass side of the neck joint that can be easily filled in with some veneer, but the neck is solid and stable as is. Then, I replaced the original pickups with Fender '57 reissues - I still have the original pickups and can include them in the deal if you are interested. The body is Candy Apple Red and does have a couple minor dings on the front and scratches/buckle rash on the back that I couldn't really get decent pics of.
