Starforce USA Mdl 8005MBK

This model is a very rare Model# 8005MBK, early 90s vintage;

Black Metallic w/cream binding; Maple neck w/Ebanol fretboard w/"Saturn" MOP inlays; Ping Machines; Wilkinson type Trem.

Hefty weight, slick neck action, killer sounds from the S/H combo.

"SkorCherz" High-Output Pickups are amazing.

Known History;

The Starforce line was started in 1988. Early models were 6000 series and soon changed to 8000 series adding USA to the brand. These quality solid body guitars feature designs based on the original Stratocaster, as well as the Superstrat (8004/8007/8008), a Tele model (8005) and a strat style acoustic/electric (8009). All were produced in Korea (Samick?) for Tropical Music of Miami and ended in about 1992. Although the headstock reads Starforce USA, the company only served Central America, South America, the Caribbean, & the B.V.I. so these guitars were never directly sold in the U.S. Tropical Music of Miami is now Tropical Music Export Enterprises Inc.(www.tropicalmusic.com) and still located in Miami.

The USA models produced were numerous throughout the run ; these were the 8000, 8001, 8002, 8003, 8004, 8005, 8006, 8007, 8008 and 8009 as well as bass models. The 8000/8001 was the entry level standard looking strat in various p/u configurations. The 8004/8005/8007/8008 was at the upper end with the 8009 being their top of the line.

All Starforce guitars, were outfitted with high-output “SkorCherz” pickups that just scream,Floyd Rose type Trems or Wilkinson type Trems and Ping 12/1 machines on high end models. Bodies were a variety of composites from ply to solid and necks were bolt-on (few set-in)maple with either Rosewood or Ebanol fretboards. Inlaid MOP “planetary” fret markers were a signature of the higher line guitars, some with Stars or Saturn. In addition to standard Red, White and Black finishes, there were fancies such as Crackle, Graffitti, Metallic and Pearls or Flame Top.

Not suprisingly, most of these are are now turning up for sale in the Florida area.
